Professor (Dr.) Raman Mittal is a Professor at Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He joined University of Delhi in 2005 and has been Professor-in-Charge of Campus Law Centre and Head and Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Before joining University of Delhi Prof. Mittal worked at the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and Winthrop Stimson Putnam and Roberts—a law firm in the USA. He holds LL.M. (University Gold Medalist) and Ph.D. from Panjab University together with M.S.S. from International Space University, France. Prof. Mittal did his Post-doctoral from the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich.
Prof. Mittal has published extensively in national and international journals and has also authored and edited several books. His research works have appeared in Journal of Indian Law Institute, Journal of Consumer Policy (Springer), Journal of Intellectual Property Rights (CSIR-NISCAIR), Les Nouvelles (Licensing Executive Society International), Space Policy (Elsevier), Uniform Law Review (UNIDROIT), IP Tech Law Journal, Oxford University Press, Springer, Edward Elgar, Kluwer Academic Publishers, Routledge, Verlag C.H. Beck and Satyam Law International among others. Prof. Mittal has edited the Journal of Indian Law Institute, Delhi Law Review and the Journal of Campus Law Centre. His research interests include Intellectual Property, Contract, Licensing, Banking, Insurance and International Laws. He speaks widely on issues related to these areas in India and abroad.
Prof. Mittal has visited various legal institutions in the capacity of academic visitor; the prominent being Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition—Munich, University of Washington—Seattle, University of Tokyo, University of Seoul, International Institute of Human Rights—Strasbourg, World Intellectual Property Organization and World Trade Organization.
Prof. Mittal has advised the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in treaty negotiations and was a member of Indian Delegation to the World Intellectual Property Organization to negotiate international treaties in the area of copyright. Prof Mittal was a member of the Drafting Committee that was tasked with the drafting of Indian Copyright Rules, 2013.
