Dr. Harleen Kaur
Dr. Harleen Kaur, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University holds an LL.B. (Gold Medal), LL.M and Ph.D. Degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. She has over 17 years of experience of teaching LL.B. and LL.M. students and her research interests include Criminal law, Property Law, Surrogacy, Criminal Justice and Human rights and Jurisprudence.
With an Excellent Academic Record, she is also the recipient of various awards such as Gold Medal Hiralal Daga Memorial Medal, P. G. Krishnan Memorial Prize, Law Union Prize for securing first position in order of merit in three consecutive years of LL.B. and G. Pershad Memorial Prize for B.A. (Pass) in Miranda House, University of Delhi in addition to the Academic Excellence Award for the year 2019 by Iswar Saran Post Graduate College (University of Allahabad) and Droit Penale as well as Women Empowerment Award for the year 2022 in sixth season of Mahanagar Global Achievers’ Award 2022.
She has an extensive research experience and several publications on diverse legal issues in reputed national and international journals and books. She has authored two books titled ‘Understanding Paradigm shifts in sexual Offences Laws in India ’ published by internationalpublisher Hamilton (United Kingdom) 2023 and another book titled ‘Laws and Policies on Surrogacy-Comparative Insights from India’published by internationalpublisher Springer (Singapore) 2021. She is on the editorial board of various law journals in addition to being reviewer for various National and International journals. She has also successfully completed various research projects granted and funded by the Institution of Eminence (IoE), University of Delhi as well as other international organizations.
She has been a resource person/panellist/invited speaker to many international and national workshops, conferences, seminars and Universities and has presented her research work at various international platforms. She presented India along with Hon’ble Mr. Justice Madan Lokur in the conference organized by The Centre for International Law Research and Policy (CILRAP) on ’Religion, Hateful Expression and Violence, held in Florence, Italy in April 2022. She was also invited as a speaker in the International Rule of Law Convention 2023 organized by Bar Association of India in April, 2023, amidst leaders of the legal profession from across the world including from International Bar Association (IBA), American Bar Association (ABA), Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), World Justice Project (WJP) and several National Organizations. She represented India in the World Peace Summit hosted by HWPL in South Korea in September, 2023. Recently she has been selected from India to participate in the two-week intensive summer course on International Criminal Law (2024) offered by Nuremberg Summer Academy, Nuremberg Germany.
Areas of Interest: Criminal law (Substantive and Procedural), Property Law, Surrogacy, Criminal Justice and Human Rights, Elements of Indian Legal System and Jurisprudence.
